HIGH HEALTH TRUCK WASH OPENS IN RED DEER

Central Alberta: Access Prosperity and the City of Red Deer are pleased to welcome Blue Water Wash, a division of Steve’s Livestock Transport (SLT), to Red Deer. On June 11, 2015, they held their grand opening, becoming the only high health wash facility in the region.

Steve’s Livestock Transport has been successfully transporting livestock throughout Canada and the US for more than thirty years. As a company, they maintain a high commitment to safe, humane transport. In 1995, SLT recognized the need for biosecure wash facilities for livestock transport vehicles and Blue Water Wash opened its first facility in Blumenort, Manitoba. Since 1995, the company has grown to have locations in Brandon, MB, Acme, AB and now Red Deer, AB.

Access Prosperity was introduced to Blue Water Wash and Steve’s Livestock Transport in early 2013 and immediately recognized the value of having Blue Water Wash and SLT in the region. Investment Attraction Officer Matt Cornall worked closely with company representatives to help them select the optimal location and work through the process. Cornall provided SLT / Blue Water Wash with significant background material on the region and arranged “many helpful meetings” with various parties who could assist the company in their decision and in navigating the process.

“Access Prosperity has been absolutely fantastic,” says Blue Water Wash General Manager Mark Reimer. “We’ve never worked with an economic development organization like this before. The help we received was invaluable. Central Alberta: Access Prosperity was directly and significantly involved in getting us to where we are in Red Deer.”

“We met with both the County of Red Deer as well as City reps,” says Reimer. “Both municipalities worked so hard for us. Even though we would obviously have to choose a location in either one municipality or the other, it was impressive to see how they worked so well together to help us make the best decision for our company’s location. That’s not something you see everywhere.”

Blue Water Wash / SLT is thrilled to be in Queens Business Park in Red Deer, a highly accessible location for all livestock trucks transporting in and through Alberta. “Our goal,” explained a representative from Blue Water Wash, “is to be the go-to biosecurity wash location for livestock transport in Alberta. We’re investing $12-15 million into the Red Deer region and we are expecting great things.”

Welcome to Red Deer, Blue Water Wash!
