At the 24th Annual Business Awards of Distinction, held last Friday night in Edmonton, a Central Alberta company was singled out for recognition.
Barr-Ag Ltd. of Olds was awarded the Export Award of Distinction. Barry Schmitt, owner of Barr-Ag Ltd., started the company in 2004, and began exporting hay to Asian markets. Barr-Ag now exports to dairy and horse operations in Europe, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the United States.
“We’re very proud to have such a successful international business in our region,” says Curtis Herzberg, Chair of the Board for Central Alberta: Access Prosperity. “We congratulate Barry Schmitt and his team for being recognized for their important contribution to the economy of Central Alberta, Alberta, and Canada.”
The Alberta Chambers of Commerce is a federation of 126 Alberta Chambers and Boards of Trade, representing over 24,000 businesses. They host the Alberta Business Awards of Distinction each year.
